Match Report

It was a good start to the day when we won the toss and elected to bat. Dave Hedge and Dan Collington strode out to the wicket to open the batting. But that good start pretty much went when in the first over Dan Collington was caught at first slip. Mark Fish now came to the wicket. Mark and Dave put on a partnership of 92 with Mark getting to his 50. But then Dave Hedge fell. Jimmy Kirkham then hit a quick fire 26 before being caught. Then the little fish came out to bat with the big fish. Jake was looking good but was then caught on 8. Then new boy Andy Cole (colesy) came out to bat. At this time Fisko were scoring at quite a fast run rate. Mark Fish then got to 98 and the talks on the boundary about last year were starting to echoe out, can you remember 99 and then caught on the boundary against newark. Well this time he wanted to get out in a different way by taking a couple of steps down the wicket and then missing the ball... Luckily he got his foot back in time before the keeper could remove the bails. Then next ball he hit a huge six over deep square leg to bring up his ton. Mark Fish was then bowled on 116. Neil Davey came in with 3 overs left. Andy and Neil managed to get us to a good score of 236 for 5 of our 45 overs. So we walked of the pitch for tea. Now it was Plumtree turn to bat. There openers were getting of to a good start at 5 an over but then Phil Zdanowski got the batsmen to find an edge straight into Jake Fish's gloves. Andy Polkey wasn't to happy with the amount of drops from Jimmy Kirkham standing at long off leaving him with no wickets. He should of been on the boundary but know he was ten yards in despite clear instructions. We then put the biggest guy on the team out there. No guessing there Ed Akers. Then jimmy came on to bowl. He was a bit wayward but then in his 3rd over he got the batsmen to nick the ball low and hard down to the left foot of Dave Faulkes. The thing that happened next was a miracle. Dave dived down and caught the ball just inches off the floor to get there number 3. What a catch. Dave Hedge had come on to bowl his offbreaks. He then got the number 4 (who fnished it off last time we played them) caught behind to give Jake his 2nd catch o the match. Then Dan came on to bowl. He was also a bit wayward but then got there number 1 to (can you guess) Yes he got a fine nick into the keepers glove to give jake his 3rd catch. The game was starting to go our way and then Dave bowled there number 8. They started to go for it then there batsmen put it up in the air to dan of hedges bowling. Dan dropped the catch but then picked the ball up and hit the stumps for a run out.Ed Akers came on to bowl and bowled quite a few down leg but then picked it up and got a wicket of a bad ball caught at cover. In the end Plumtree finished on 190 for 7 falling 46 short. Fiskerton won and got 18 points. A good start to the season. Bring on Stanton By Dale next week. Written By Jake Fish
