Ed and Jim prepared the track - thanks to them. The skipper won the toss and elected to bat before he got changed. Having got changed he left the dressing room to be met by Malc Deacon returning from his innings though not a run out. MaX had to leave the scorebox to bat and proceeded to amass runs with Jake and the partnership was 64 before Max was out for 43 in the 15th over. This brought Mr Kirkham to the wicket who showed no fear but was then out 3rd ball for 0. in strode Dom to steady the ship. Dom and Jake took the score to 96 before Dom was caught by an excellent catch. This brought clubber coles to the crease who took the score to 133 before Jake was ought fo a fine 41 in the 31st over. Time for captain to come in Coles explained what was going on and then tried to attack the youngest bowler and looped the ball to mid off for 24. In came Polkey. The skipper said wait for it and have a look but he gave a chance first ball and then second ball so the skipper said do what you want then. Polkey and foulkes took the score to 208 before Polkey left for a useful 27. In came Kyle who scored 1 and then Mark Nevin who left for a Duck. So it was the last over and Dick took a quick single to give skipper strike for last ball which he had an almighty swing at and fortunately it went for 6. Leaving a total of 234 for 9.
A below par tea was endured by all but we went into the field in buoyant mode. Kirkham took the first over and went for 10 Polkey tookthe second over and went for 9 so 19 for 0 off two. Then JK got a wicket in the next over and there was only one batsmen who looked like getting any runs. He did and scored 71 (including a couple of chances before being bowled by Mr Stead who had alreay had a couple of chances go begging. Catch of the day went to Kyle who caught a ball that looked to be well beyond him. A quick extendable stretch armstrong moment later the batsman was on his way. There was a run out after Malc charged at Jake like a bull but didnt move. Max ran in from the boundary and ran the non striker out who was not amused with his partner. Mark Nevin bowled an impressive spell and finished with 2 for 29 off 9. Kyle and Coles only got an over each but both picked up a wicket leaving Farndon all out for 144 off 36 overs.
Well done everybody
