Match Report

A fine end to the season. After losing both the fishes to help first team try for promotion we fielded a team of 11 with saturday debuts for Ben Carr and Danny Gault. The opposition decided to bat on a pitch that looked dodgy. So the opening bowlers of Andy Coles and Phil Zdanowski set about terrorising the opposition. Coles finished with 0-24 off 12 but took two catches in the deep. Having bowled the opposition in he was banished to the boundary. The last 10 overs were a mystery to me as people bowled and fielded where they wanted as I was completely spaced out, suggestions were met with a huh or dunno or a glazed stare. Anyway the opposition scored 207  for 2 and I collapsed in the changing rooms. I was still a little groogy after tea when I was persuaded by Dom and Colesy to bat no 5. We were 32 for 3 when I joined Kev who was cross with the bowler. We took the score to 114 before I was bowled. Kev and Coles then took over the run chase Kev with 54 and Colesy with 38 were upsetting the opposition. Then in came Dom who set another little partnership. We needed 8 to win off the last two overs - then came a wicket maiden when Colesy got out to a bloke called Cob So last over and Dick Stead and Danny batting. Dick hit a two then a four then a 1 leaving 1 needed off two balls to win and Danny on strike. First ball dot but second ball 4 so magic. Well done to everyone who played this season. Just a note had we achieved 9 more points over the season we would have been promoted so Newark was crucial and remeber when a game doesnt look like it can be won try to get as close as possible as there are always bonus points up for grabs.

Cheers and thanks
