Match Report

It was nice to get a game of cricket on a sunny day and Fisko this week travelled to Newark, where we haven't had the best of results in recent seasons. Fisko, having selected a strong side with youth and experience lost the toss and were put in the field. Ali Hall opening the bowling with Jason Sharp, Ali got the early breakthrough getting James Hemstock caught in the gully for 2. With both Hall and Sharp gettting Fisk to a confortable 61 for 5 it was Newark's Beard and Gommersall whi dug deep to get Newark to a decent 150 for 6.  Eventually having Beard caught by Mark Fish in the deep by the returning Sharp. Newark battled hard for their defendable total of 202 for 8, Gommersall finishing on 40 not out.

New opening pair of Robson and Jake Fish got off to a good start, with Robbo (43) and Jake (17) making a slow track look easy to bat on. We all dug in hard to keep on top of the run rate and with Max Danby run out for 26, Mike Rees (25) and Gareth Rees with plenty of boundaries in his 23, it was down to Dan Collo to hit a risky 44 not out to see us home with Sharpy (3 not out).

MOM this week goes to Ali for his 5 wickets on a difficult track to bowl on and Captain Calamity goes to Sharpy for a middle of the wicket collision with Dan whilst batting. Dan only being spared the award this week by his 44 not out.

Well played all, but Newark got 50 more than they should have done in an early season fielding performance. Thanks to Christine and Dave Rees for doing the upmiring and scoring.
