Match Report

After losing the toss again and Thrumpton electing to bat it was a hard slog for the bowlers who, on a superb batting track struggled to make a major impact on Thrupmpton's batters who all chipped in with double figures, the stand out batsman, Aravidan with a fine 65 not out. I think we'd all agree it was 45 overs of hard work, only Kev Rees, making his first start of the season, getting 3 for 46

We all thought the target was within our reach and  got off to a good start with both Jake Fish (37) and Mike Rees (35) looking comfortable. Max (20)looked in good shape before falling to the impressive Pick (5 for 46). In comes Gareth Rees who looked a match winner hitting boundaries to all part of the ground but it semed nobody could stay with him as our next 6 batsmen only got 19 runs between them, Dan getting 14 of them. In comes Steve Collo at number 11, who with Gareth needed 100 off 18 overs to win. We put up a good battle and fell 49 runs short with Steve (12 not out) and Gareth (61) having too much to do finally falling to a good catch in the deep.

Plenty to think about for next week in a batting line that is more than capable and fielding which needs improving.

Man of the match for the courageous Gareth and Captain Calamity goes to Ali Hall for his one effort in the field that he should have just let go over the boundary. Nobody would have complained about the boundary and fair play for getting there but it went for four anyway and looked terrible.
