Match Report

A very cold day was waiting for us at Fiskerton for our first league game of the season at home. After Phil Zdanowski dismissed one of the openers for 1, I honestly believed things would warm up. However, I was wrong, a long cold session of mediocre bowling gifted Wollaton 25 extras of which 12 were wides, this when combined with some appauling misfields, meant Wollaton had reached in my opinion 40 - 50 runs more than they deserved. On a positive note, Andy Laughton who had looked a little shakey to start with redeemed himself in his second spell as his confidence grew and bowled like we all know he can. His figures of 8 overs, 1 for 25 flattered the opposition, he really did bowl well. Andy Beecroft was as steady as ever and Phil Zdanowski added to his season tally with 2 more wickets.

As Rob Bailey and I began to chase the total of 203 down, we felt we had more than enough batting within the team to achieve victory. However, Rob & I were bowled in quick succession with the score at just 42. Max came in and carried on his good form with the bat, top scoring with 29, Andy Laughton & Rob Turner also making contribution. The remainder of the team scored just 17 runs for 6 wickets!!!

The brutal facts are we were sloppy in the field and undisciplined with the bat, when these are combined there will only ever be one result.

Man of the Match: Andy Laughton for an outstanding 2nd spell

Captain Calamity: Jimmy Kirkham for an extremeley mixed 6 overs that went for 43. Surprisingly one of these overs was a Double wicket Maiden!!!!!!
