Match Report

On a day where a victory was vital for Fiskerton, we got off to a good start by winning the toss and inserting the opposition. An excellent start by the openers Hall & Laughton gave us a couple of early wickets and kept the run rate low. Max showed glimpses of how good he will be by bowling his new off breaks, but it was the middle period of the innings where we tied Farndon down. Hedge & Beecroft picking 4 wickets up between them and going for just 53 off there combined 16 overs meant that Farndon should not reach the PAR score of around 225. However we tried our best to help them out, at least 7 dropped catches and multiple misfields by players using the infamous "Fisko Foot". Farndon scraped a final total of 194 for 9 off the 40 overs, a score that was surely gettable but nevertheless at least 40 runs more than we should've allowed.

Carr & Bailey began our reply. Carr looking as solid as always, playing straight and with conviction. Bailey fell early playing all around a straight one, but this enabled the in form Danby to go out and do what he has done all year. An unbeaten 80 was his reward for playing with patience early doors, but accelerating towards the end of the innings. Hedge chipped in with 40, and Laughton again showed he is no slouch with the bat with an unbeaten 17. We deserved to win today, we were the better team in all departments other than fielding. We were lucky in the sense that the 40 runs we gave them in the field did not come around and bite us on the back side.

Man of the Match: Max with a beautifully constructed 80*

Captain Calamity: Blobby - Multiple drops in the field and playing around a straight one
