Match Report

Phew! A win, but boy was it close. Having been put in to bat, a good toss to lose as neither skipper was quite sure what to do with a green wicket.

Max Danby and Rob Turner put on a great opening stand of roughly 85 which really gave us a great start, Rob playing very well(although a tad lucky) for his 41.  Dan Pearson gets better every week batting well for 25 runs, with Max eventially getting out for a very well crafted 87. Contributions from Dan Collo, Dan Jones and a crucial 8 in the last 2 overs at the end from Milner gave us a good total of 214.

We knew from Wellows previous scores that the game was not safe. Akers opened with Jack Surtees. Surtees bowled well for his 5 overs picking up 2 wickets. Akers bowling well unrewarded 8 overs 0 for 19. Steve Collo and Dan Jones came next, Collo bowling exceptionally well keeping it tight 8 overs 1 for 15. Dan Pearson once again picked up another wicket from his 5 overs, but Wellow were bringing themselves back into the game as the run rate was increasing. It needed a bit of steal which was provided as Dan Collo came up trumps with some great death bowling as well as a steady nerve from Rob Turner to get 2 wickets in the 39th over saw the game through.....just! Well kept Paul Whitby as well who put his body on the line for the last few overs to keep Dan Collo's pace at bay and save crucial runs.

MOTM - Max Danby for a great knock.

Capt Calamaity - Dan Collo for swapping with his Dad at Gully (to save his dads knees apparently). I was bowling at the time and i said to Dan these exact words 'If your dad drops a catch now i'm blaming you'. You couldnt write it as the very next ball was plopped up in the air and with Steve diving forward dropped a hard catch (Thanks for coming Steve).

Everyone right from the 2 umpires (Grog and Phil Z),  the players and even Beckie Turner for her teas should take credit for this win. A real team effort. Well done.
