Match Report

Great win on sunday with 9 players.

I won the toss and decided to bowl on a wicket that looked erm ... green... and not cut.

Everyone bowled really well and the fielding was excellent, apart from collo's first over that went for 12 we kept them down to 3 an over for a very long time. Well bowled to Drew Bull, put on in the thick of it and coped well.

Ian Wilkinson was the suprise bowler of the day, managing to settle in quickly and picking up 3 wickets and taking a catch, even after breaking his finger in the warm up before the game started.

Polkey bowled very tightly as always and picked up 3 wickets, one of the openers on 48 which was very useful. All in all they collated up 202. Good effort from us with 9 men have to admit.

Onwards with the batting, Max opened with Bailey and put on a good opening stand of about 50 before max's eyes lit up and got caught in the deep, departing for 29, Bailey soon following in similar style an over later for 19. Gav lewis came into bat without having any practice this season or pre-season thus far. Dan Collington came to the crease with him after Baileys dismissal to try and slog sweep his first delivery and walked straight back to the pavilion again, trapped LBW first ball. Andy Laughton came jogging out next still fastening the pads and putting his gear on. Together Gav and Andy Laughton put on nearly 100 runs in 15 overs with 15 boundaries including 5 sixes.

With about 30 runs to win Andy Laughton got caught behind and bowled in the same delivery, departing for 49 ... sods law.

Gav continued to keep the score ticking along with good support from foulkey 13, and polkey 5* to steer us across the line with 4 overs spare.

Man of the Match: Gav for his batting form.

Captain Calamity: Me (Forgetting to make sure that Kev Smith knew where the ground was).

All in all very very good performance from all concerned, 9 players and a victory ... bring on next week.
