Unfortunately i lost the toss on a day where we really needed to bat first and set a total ... so we bowled.
Caythorpe's 2 opening batmsen were playing a different level from all of our team, they compiled 189 runs between them with good technical play and great timing, until i bowled a rank leg side short ball and got one opener caught by dan collo at midwicket, a very good catch to say the least.
Captain calamity goes to me for dropping the same opener some time earlier at mid off and going for 64 off 8 overs, not good enough.
Polkey bowled well to pick up his 1 wicket and dan collington bowled well at the end to pick up 2 wickets with his offspin.
Onto batting, we opened with ben carr and max danby, both batsmen played incredibly well and both max and ben were timing the ball immaculately, they put on an opening stand of 130 odd before max fell on 74. Ben and me made a small partnership but when i fell for 17, the next 8 batmsen racked up 27 runs between them, definately not enough from that point. With good bowling on their part it was difficult batting at times but 240 should have been an easier target considering we were 100 odd for 0 at one point.
Another loss in the book but a better effort from all ....
No fixture next sunday so we should all be well rested. |
