Although the result was not a favourable one for Fiskerton, infact as it shows we got soundly beaten, there was a more important context to this match. For the first time in a few years Fiskerton fielded a batch of young, home coached cricketers into the senior side.
Unfortunately the seniors did not read the script and with no runs being scored from them the juniors had a lot of pressure on them to score. We were bowled out for 40 and that was disappointing. However in the field it was a different story, with Dan Jones bowling a very nice spell of 4 overs taking his first 2 wickets for only 11 runs and Ollie Stanley bowling a magical 2 overs which went without a deserved wicket.
Add to this the undoubted talents of James Stevenson, Nick Eatough and Dan Pearson with their effort and enthusiasm the future is looking a bit brighter after a bad start to the Fiskerton season.
We need to plod on through the season with the seniors supporting these young lads as much as possible.
