Match Report

Our second win of the year...which is one more win than last year so thats progress!

Being asked to bat first after losing the toss was a surprise, but it led us to believe a good total of 150+ would win the game. We managed a solid 192-9, underpinned by a steady 51* from Ed Akers with cameos from Max Dany (35), Jim Kirkham (18), Josh Perry (10 in the book but should have been 14) and Andy Polkey (16). A new player called extras second topped scored with 37.

Reducing the opposition to 4-2 off the first few overs, they rallied and a 50 partnership got them back in it, but in truth the game was won after the first 10 overs. Polkey was metronomic as usual and would have gone for less if the gully fielding was slightly better! Dan Jones (1-18) & Jack Surtess (2-27) both bowled well.

But the real drama was the game within a game. Fiskerton's two spinners slugging it out in a winner takes all contest. Dave Hedge threw down the gauntlet which Milner accepted. The least runs would win, with -10 runs off the bowlers score for every wicket. Steve Milner was victorious with 3-11 proving that pies are an acceptable form of bowling. In truth Steve bowled well and it was nice to see him amongst the wickets and his victory earns him the MOTM.  Dave Hedge (1-12) on the other hand cannot walk away with any pride after winning Captain Calamity.
