Winning the toss I asked Sherwood to bat on another great wicket (not). Andy Beecroft took a wicket in his second over with the score at 8 but it was all down hill from then on. Sherwood managed to score 199 which on that wicket was always going to be out of our reach with the resources we had.Andy Loughton 2for 33 Andy Beecroft 1 for 28 Jim Kirkham 1 for 30 and Neil Davey bowling for the first time after injury 1 for 16 were the wicket takers. Phil Z making his first team debut bowled 6 tidy overs and didn't look out of place, his improvement over the last couple of years is something others members should take note of. Andy Gordon (new teeth) when asked to play for the firsts late in the week was only too pleased to help us out , also bowled 5 tidy overs thanks Andy. We didn't have the best starts chasing the large total loosing me and Neil Davey with the score 25.A partnership of 45 between Jim Kirkham and Max Danby gave us a chance before Jim was out for 19. Max continues to impress and made 35, a poor shot selection costing him a large score which I am sure is just around the corner. We then lost wickets at a steady rate and were all out for 107. A big thank you to Richard Nevin,Andy Gordon and Pete Todd for helping field 11 players at short notice. Now a moan I feel it is now time to speak out regarding players making themselves available for Sat or Sun stating which team they wish to play for (1st or 2nds). Captains and V.Captains were given support at the A.G.M. for the good of the club, it seems that certain players would like to pick and choose which captain they play under. We cannot expect to progress as a club with this attitude and I feel players with a problem should be man enough to talk to Captains and V.Captains to discuss matters. Playing cricket at the highest standard should be every players aim so come on lads talk to us, selection will be so much easier. The attitude shown by all on Sunday was spot on thanks for the support. Thanks also to Bill who has been ever present this season with his scorebook.
