Match Report

AN awesome win in the Crawley Cup, despite the Captain's best efforts to scupper it, by arranging a team for the wrong date. Hence huge thanks go to everyone for offending wives, and girlfriends, and not only turning up but making the best of it, and thrashing the oppo.

Max & Jimmy got us off to an excellent start, setting the standard for the innings by going at 10 an over. Jimmy took some time to satrt middling it, but when he did finally get going, he was despatching it to all parts. Max, not to be outdone, smashed the opening bowler for 2 consecutive sixes, and the opposition bowling started to unravel!!

Jimmy was bowled, bringing a limping Dan C to the wicket, who looked good but was unfortunately also bowled, looking to smash it, to continue the scoring rate. I joined Max at the wicket, and was able to hit a few runs quickly, but also managed to deny Max his 50! Sorry chap!

We finished on 119 for 2, thinking it was easily sufficient, however out openers, Ed and Rob T had other ideas, like offering the Oppo the chance to win, with 2 abject overs of 36 runs. Despite this Jimmy and I managed to rein the run rate back in and pick up 2 wickets apiece. (Point of note, last season's "catcher of the year", dropped a sitter on the boundary. Thought i'd just mention it.......!). This left Dan and Max to bowl the last two overs for not very many, and secured the vital Cup win. Well done to everyone, especially after my Capt Calamity performance prior to a ball being bowled!!

Same again next week!!
