Not the start to the season that I hoped!!
After losing the toss we were put into field first which is what i would of chosen if i'd won the toss anyway. Forest Green started strongly with some big shots from the off quickly getting to a run rate of 6 an over. Both openers scored highly putting us on the back foot straight away giving us a tough job of chasing the total of 259. Poor fielding and bowling that was to short and wide gifted alot of runs to the opposition. Additional poor field placements on my part didn't help the situation.
We started our innings positively with David Hedge and David Newby scoring quickly putting us in a good position early doors. After the fall of Newbys wicket we were on 98 after 18 overs. Hedgie continued strongly while the middle order struggled with 4 wickets falling for just 14 runs. A great 6th wicket partnership from Ed Akers and Hedgie nearly got us to the total we needed but fell just short on 236 for 6. One highlight of the day was seeing Hedgie hit his 3rd Century for the club with a fantastic 130 and only losing his wicket 4 balls from the end of the innings.
Plenty of work needed for the coming weeks especially with regards to fielding.
