With a second week of player availability being tight, we arrived at wollaton with 2 or 3 key players not on the team sheet.
Never the less after losing the toss and got put into the field i was confident in my bowling line up to do us the job. After a quick start by their opening pair we eventually got the kiwi pro for 41 from a nice bit of work from Polkey and Turner behind the stumps who yet again had a great game with the gloves. We restricted the runs well in the middle part of the innings and had a brief flury of wickets. Some great bowling from Phil Z and Kev Wyatt helped keep the total down. Unfortunately we let it slide at times with wollaton ending up on 213 for 6 which was a total we could easily achieve with the recent form the clubs being having with the bat.
A positve start to our innings with Max looking confident from the off in his first weekend game of the season. Unfortunately this didnt last long as he was bowled to a great ball by wollatons opener falling for just 10 runs. So it was up to Ed and Kev to steady the ship and put us in a good position. They didnt dissappoint with a great 2nd wicket partnership of 70 both looking well at the crease. 3 quick wickets followed with the loss of Ed, Kev Osbon and Kev Wyatt for just 2 runs. Laughts soldiered on and after a quick flurry myself picked the run rate up and gave us confidence that we could finish the job between us. Sadly i chose the kiwi pro on the boundary to hit the ball to and left the pitch only scoring 22. Andy continued well and fell on 53 with some great looking shots putting us up to 146 for 7. A valiant effort from the tail end nearly got us there but falling short by 17 on 196.
Plenty of postives to take from the game. Plus a mention for Isaac Osbon filling in at the last minute due to a player dropping out. Had a great game and never once complained about doing 3rd man both ends for the 40 overs, well done mate!
Definite good feeling about this year though lets keep going and get up that league table!
