With a fairly strong side it should of been a good close game. With the looming bad weather it was decided to reduce the game to 30 overs per side hoping to get a game in.
With the pitch getting damp over night I decided to bowl after winning the toss with the hope of getting some early wickets. This didnt quite go to plan with Wollaton having a strong opening pair one of which scoring 132 no which undoubtedly made the difference to the result. Bowling wasn't up to our normal standard and Wollaton took full advantage combined with a very quick outfield which is looking fantastic at the moment may I add. Wollaton ended with 224 for 4 at the end of their innings.
A good start from Newby and Spits with the bat made us feel confident we could make a good crack at the large run rate we had to achieve. After Spits was out Dave and Joe continued the good chase putting us on the right track unfortunately we couldnt quite get on top of the run rate falling 42 runs short after running out of overs. One positive outcome was yet again a great performance from Newby with the bat scoring 72 and fully deserving the MOM this week.
Better luck next week guys!
