Having lost the toss and inserted in to bat, considering the conditions I would've taken 180 runs. It was cloudy, cold and the pitch green & tacky.
We got off to the worst start, Max given LBW with a dubious decision. However he did invite the appeal from the oppo by not playing a shot. And as for me, bottom edge pulling, on to pad and on to middle stump!!!
14 for 2.
The next 24 overs however, belonged to Fiskerton. Congratulations to Dan Jones, picking up his first senior half century with 51, and Andy Laughton 38, together they put on 96 runs for the 3rd wicket. As often happens with partnerships, Dan Jones fell in the 29th over and Laughts fell 2 overs later.
Kirkham showed some resistance for his 29, as did Rob Turber with an unbeaten 21.
We had 176 on the board, and knowing that if we field and bowl as we can, this would be tough to get.
However we bowled short, wide, beamers & no balls giving the oppo 38 runs in extras!
A dropped catch early from Ed proved costly, as the opener went on to 86*.
The only real positive from our fielding performance, was watching Paul Orgill bowl 3 - 2 - 11 - 1.
A bad day at the office in the field today I'm afraid, we certainly need to learn from our mistakes.
