Another excellent win, especially as no other teams in our league played due to the weather. Thanks to Sutton Bonington for giving the weather chance to clear up.
I lost the toss and we were inserted. Some very tight bowling and a wet outfield made scoring difficult, however small but significant contributions from Kirkham (27), Collington (25), Akers (20) & Hedge (13) ensured we got to 122 for 5 after the agreed 36 overs. We believed it to be enough.
The usual suspects then did the damage with the ball. Luke Rees bowled well, but this time around didnt pick up a wicket. George Butler however continued his progress with 5 fine overs rewarding him with 2 wickets. As expected James Kirkham proved the perfect foil for Paul Orgill as he kept one end very tight. As the opposition tried to score off Paul, he got the better of 5 of them taking 2 caught and bowled in the process. Paul Orgill's best figures to date of 5 for 24 earned him the MOTM. Steve Collington then wrapped up the tail in quick time taking 3 for 7.
A good job well done, we remain second but have pulled clear of third spot and are just a point off the top.
Paul Orgill gave Paul Whitby Capt Calamity this week for the numerous missed stumpings off his bowling. I will mention that Paul 'the claw' Whitby did take a fine one handed catch earlier in the innings. Other nominations were Steve Collo for wearing his shorts the wrong way round and George Butler for his comment '9 down Fisko only 2 wickets to get'.
