Match Report

Balderton batted first, and their openers made a good start, hitting Turner for 4 off the very first ball. Steve Holt was also finding it difficult at the other end bowling 5 overs, 0 / 29. Turner began to control the swing of the ball and ended his 1st spell 7 overs, 0 / 17. Andy Gordon took over from Steve and made the first breakthrough, bowling the opener for 29. Formoy took over from Turner and bowled 6 overs, 0 / 23. Andy Gordon finished 10 overs straight through finishing with figures of 10 - 1 - 47 - 1. Replacing Formoy was Kyle Barker and instantly he took the wicket of the dangerous number 3 thanks to a sharp catch at backward square by Akers. Kyle then switched ends as Turner was brought back on for his final 3 overs which proved to be a good choice as in this spell he took 4 wickets for just 8 runs. Kyle finished out at the other end ending with figures of 7 - 0 - 36 - 1, Jim Scott bowled out the overs at the end Turner had now vacated, finishing with 2 - 0 - 4 - 1 having bowled the No8 batsman. Balderton finishing with 169 / 8.

Fiskerton now took to the field, and the opening pair of Kev Smith and Dave Newby began very well making a very good start, the score being 57 when the first wicket, Smith falling LBW for 13. Jim Scott joined Newby at the crease, but not for long as after bye and a wide Newby holed out to a good catch by point, running backwards! This proved to be Fiskertons downfall as an almighty collapse ensued. Scott 1st, top edging the ball back to the bowler for 0, followed by Formoy who edged behind for 0. Dave Foulkes ended the run of ducks momentarily as he got to 3 before running Turner out for another duck. Ed Akers strode out and steadied the ship for a short while until Foulkes fell LBW. Akers was then joined and left again, by Gordon scoring a quick 8, Steve Milner for another duck, a brief spurt by Steve Holt for 8 and finally Kyle Barker for, you guessed it another duck. Akers finishing 6 not out. 5 ducks in total and Fisko bowled out for 95. Needless to say there was one very angry captain that day!!!
