A disappointing start to the Evening League campaign. In tropical tempertures of 3 degrees Jim won the toss and elected to field. The innings was one of thirds, the first belonging to Fisko wit Joe Cope & Jim Kirkham bowling tightly, the second belonging to Farndon with a 50 partnership, and the final third seeing Fisko claw Farndon back with a few wickets. Of particular note was Callum Paynter-Haywood who bowled 3 good overs on debut, not easy to do in the evening league against two batsman that were set. Farndon set us a chaseable 121 to win.
As the openers took to the field it was immediately clear we were missing some night vision goggles, with the darkness rapidly descending. Neither opener really got away and despite a revival wth Dave Hedge (26) and Joe Cope (15) we were aways behind the run rate. Dan Collo (20) did his best but with 20 required off the last over, in almost complete darkness Dan Collo, Ed Akers & Harry Parker could only manage 12 between them leaving us 8 short.
MOTM - Callum P-H for a great debut spell of bowling under pressure
Capt Calamaity - Dave Newby for trying to pull a ball that barely got above his dwarf sized knees. Pulling in April is just not Cricket.
