Match Report

Winning the toss and electing to bat S Collo then reversed his decision when he found out the the Newcastle Arms only had 6 players. Opening with Ali Hall he made an imediate impact trapping the opener LBW. for 0 He continued to bowl a good line and length in his 3 over spell taking 2 for 12. Ian Wilkinson bowled well in his 2 overs but was a bit unlucky to have some poor fielding finish an expensive second over and final figures of 0 for 17. On comes Phil Z 2 for 21 and Luca T 0 for 24 both bowling well. Some more dropped catches cost us a few runs with Dan Collo and Rob Turner, who has now dropped 5 catches on the trot, allowing the vistors to creep up to 91. To be fair to Rob the catches straigh to you are always difficult. I recommend trowing a beach ball in the air and work your way down Rob !! ;-) I did roll the ball to Rob to take the last over and the frustration of his dropped catched had an effect taking 2 wickets in 2 balls finishing with figures of 2 for 3. Score ended 91 for 8.

Batting, Ben Carr and S Collo opened and soon lost skipper Collo Snr to a good catch at mid wicket for 4. Ben continued to play good shots on his way to a fine 24. With everyone chipping in a few and wicket tumbling steadily Ali Hall asked to go in and "smack a few". Ali finishing off a match winning performance with 15 not out.

A brave Newcastle Arms performance with 9 men
